Considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful bridges, and certainly the most photographed, the Golden Gate Bridge spans the one mile wide strait that connects San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean. Opened in 1937, it also links the city of San Francisco to Marin County in northern California which, prior to the bridge’s opening, relied on ferries between the two.
